Individualized Curriculum for High School Students

ColoradoEd offers two high school programs: Colorado Virtual Academy and Elevate Academy. Both schools place an emphasis on an individualized curriculum for all students.

Colorado Virtual Academy is open to students in grades 9-12 and utilizes the K12 curriculum. Based on K12’s highly effective learning environment, the High School program includes several additional features to meet the more complex needs and requirements of High School level content.

Elevate Academy offers a middle school and a high school for students in grades 7-12. At Elevate, students are immersed in the rigorous, award-winning Florida Virtual School curriculum. Students are also offered the option to take classes on a semester basis or on a block schedule.

A Comprehensive Catalog of Courses Covering Six Core Subjects

Both schools provides a wide variety of rich and engaging courses coupled with expert instruction that’s optimized for each specific subject. Over 90 courses in core subjects deemed by Colorado educators as essential are offered to each student to help with success in college and beyond.

A Variety of Academic Levels Designed to Challenge Students

Core classes are offered in six different academic levels in order to meet the aptitude and unique educational requirements of each student. These academic levels include:

  • Remedial courses designed to help bring underprepared students to expected skill competency levels.
  • Credit recovery courses aimed at students who need to make up missed courses, improve grades, catch-up with classmates or earn the credits necessary to graduate on time.
  • Core courses similar to the standard courses offered by most traditional educational programs. These classes meet or exceed all state and federal academic requirements for graduation, as well as admission into college and beyond.
  • Comprehensive courses intended for students with both strong study skills and a strong foundational knowledge and aptitude in a particular subject.
  • Honors courses are more challenging courses which demand students adhere to a greater academic standard and require more independence and self-discipline than traditional courses.
  • Advanced Placement (AP®) courses follow a demanding curriculum outlined by the College Board and are college-level courses requiring an even greater degree of independence, self-discipline and in-depth study than Honors courses. Students enrolled in these courses are also held to a higher academic standard than any other courses.

Inclusive Collection of World Language Courses

In addition to our comprehensive list of courses in the essential core subjects, high school students may choose from four different world languages, including:

  • Spanish
  • French
  • Latin
  • Chinese

Each world language is offered at both beginner and intermediate levels, while some are offered in two more advanced levels, allowing students to master their world language skills.

Electives Designed to Inspire Passion

In order to provide students a full, rich and well-rounded education, students can take more than 40 different elective courses. These electives include courses in a number of traditional subjects, as well as several cutting edge fields. High school students are able to explore different interests and pursue their passions, including creative photography, Music of the World, Psychology, Guitar and Forensic Science, to name a few.

ColoradoEd is continually striving to provide students with the most complete education possible so that each student has the opportunity to reach his or her full potential. As a result, we’re regularly adding to our catalog of courses and improving courses to meet the ever changing needs of our students.
